We are delighted that Rosie South will be joining our ever increasing team of guest chefs to deliver a series of vegan cookery classes,. A word from Rosie:
“My name is Rosie South, I am a mother to 3 grown up children, 1 of which is a chef! Also a grandma to 2 little boys.
I have worked in the Hospitality Industry since leaving catering college back in 1983. I have worked in a variety of establishments, both in the kitchen and front of house. I have professional chef qualifications as well as a teaching qualification and a BA in Education and Professional Development.
I worked at Harrogate College as a full time chef lecturer for 17 years before leaving and setting up a book shop and vegan café with my husband, . I have now returned back to Harrogate College on a part time basis teaching our future chefs.
I recognise the importance of developing and updating my skills and having a knowledge of an ever changing industry. I have taken part in cookery demonstrations at The Harrogate Flower Show, The Yorkshire Show and The Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival. They are always lots of fun.
I love food and trying out new flavours and adapting recipes. I am interested in vegan cookery, mainly as I felt years ago that industry needed to adapt more for the vegan diet and also for my husband, a vegetarian for 18 years and vegan for 5 years.”
In this class you will cook four flavour filled dishes. You will use various cooking techniques and gain hints and tips on shopping for ingredients and leading a vegan lifestyle.
Some of the dishes will be your lunch.
The class includes a light lunch perhaps of dishes made, the rest will be yours to take home.
