This five day residential course is designed for those completing the residential section of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as well as those heading off to university or college or perhaps embarking on a Gap Year.

Class details

As well as menu planning and cooking on a budget, students will be taught:IMG_0474 (4)

  • Knife Skills
  • The art of Silver Service
  • Safety in the kitchen,
  • Store cupboard essentials
  • Healthy eating
  • Use of leftovers.

You will leave with a Certificate of Achievement (useful when applying for jobs), Recipe Folder and a two week menu plan. The course also include evening talks and activities.

A range of dishes will be taught from healthy breakfast options to entertaining on a budget, cake baking and perfect pastry!  Below is a selection of dishes that may be prepared:

  • Smoothies
  • Scotch Pancakes
  • Ham and Egg Pies
  • Bircher Museli
  • Roast tomato soup
  • Chicken Thighs with Lime and Ginger
  • Roast pork dinner
  • Chicken Pie
  • Fruit Crumble
  • Profiteroles and chocolate sauce
  • Naughty chocolate fudge cake

Price – £595 to include four nights accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as evening activities or talks.

Arrival time 10.30am. The course will end at 3.30pm on the last day of the course.

There will be a maximum of 12 students in the class.

We operate a strict zero alcohol policy for ALL students regardless of age

Accommodation 

The accommodation is shared in twin rooms in our on site 4* Bed and Breakfast.  Students who prefer not to share may do so subject to availability and for a supplement of £100.

Accommodation for Evening Prior to the Course Start Date

Subject to availability, accommodation for the evening prior to course start date can be offered at the discounted rate of £60 for single occupancy and £80 for twin occupancy including full Yorkshire Breakfast. Please note that students will be treated as regular Bed & Breakfast guests and unfortunately an evening meal will not be provided for this night.  For those students arriving by train, we can provide details of local taxi firms but sadly cannot provide a collection service.

Travel

We are close to Hutton Cranswick and Driffield railway stations and will be happy to transport students from these stations on the first and last days of the course.

Cancellation & Transfer Policy

Cancellations

More than 40 days notice – course fees will be returned in full subject to an administration fee of £100.00 Less than 40 days notice – ALL course fees will be retained unless we are able to fill your place. If we are able to reallocate your place course fees will be returned in full subject to an administration fee of £100.00. Less than seven days – no refund will be offered.

In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a course we will endeavour to offer you a suitable alternative. If this is not possible you will be entitled to a full refund. Please note we do require a minimum attendance on all courses and sadly may have to cancel if the appropriate number is not reached. However please note that all five 2016 courses sold out very quickly!

Transfer of Booking

More than 40 days notice – acceptable subject to an administration fee of £10.00 Less than 40 days notice – £10.00 fee if we are able to fill your original place, £100.00 if we are unable to reallocate your place.
